![[ ]](http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f346/OzoneRed/e00e5452.jpg) | Number 12, Grimmauld Place Many security measures are in place at Grimmauld Place: there are anti-Apparation charms; it is Unplottable; it is disguised from Muggles and other interlopers. In the seventh book it is noted that the neighbours had long ago come to terms with the fact that the houses on their street went straight from 11 to 13. It is as secure as any magical dwelling can be and can accommodate a large number of people. For this reason, it was chosen as the headquarters of the reconstituted Order of the Phoenix when Sirius offered it to the Order. Only magical persons can see it, and only if told the location by the Secret Keeper himself. Now it serves as a home to Andromeda and her grandchildren, Theodore and Kory Lupin. She had bought the place after her husband had died.

It is accessible to the wizarding world, to which it is something of an economic hub, but hidden from Muggles. However, Muggles are allowed access to it if they need to accompany their Muggle-born magical children. If a wizard or witch needs something, chances are that it can be found in Diagon Alley.

Above each table you will see large banners with each house on them all the way from Gryffindor to Hufflepuff. Each table is assigned to each house group. The great hall is graced with floating lit candles and a magical view of the sky, when your eyes grace upwards you'll be delighted to see it. Beyond all it's wonderful beauty, at the very front of the hall is the head table where all teachers including the Headmaster eat and announce current events.

Dumbledore found no use for it but decided to turn it into a room that looks exactly like the forbidden forest. Sneak inside and you will see trees covered in vines that go all along the floor. The floor boards appear as if it is grass and dirt giving a surreal feel to it. At night the ceiling mimics the night sky as if you are really there.

If you follow the corridor long enough you’ll come to a door that reads, ‘Potions Classroom’. The room beyond the door is square, and filled with long tables, which cauldrons sit upon. A large cauldron sits in front of the desks. This large cauldron belongs to the professor. It is unwise to venture into the potions classroom without permission.

![[ ]](http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f346/OzoneRed/e00e5452.jpg) | Hufflepuff Common Room Near the kitchens, underneath a hidden trap door is the Hufflepuff Common Room. This common room is much different from the rest of them, for one it is square, and there are two fire places, to each side. The room has a humble feeling to it, plastered on the high ceiling is yellow and black banners that read Hufflepuff. Upon the lower walls are a few portraits and a cork board. Both fires are surrounded by black & yellow chairs, couches, and on one side even beanbag chairs. Like all the houses this one too has tables to study at.

To get past it all you have to do it tickle the hair. Once inside it is hard not to notice the resemblance it has to the Great Hall. In the middle of the room stand four tables, identical to the ones above. House elves work preparing food for the meals, and if you happen to stumble into the Kitchen at night they may prepare you a snack. It is prohibited to be out of bed though.

![[ ]](http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f346/OzoneRed/e00e5452.jpg) | Dungeon Halls There are many dungeons located underneath the castle. These dungeons are numbered. The most popular one is dungeon number five. It held the death day party for Nearly Headless Nick. All the dungeons are almost identical. What is not identical about them is what is stored within. Trolls are known to inhabit a few of the vast dungeons. One through four are all dungeons used for potions class, many of them contain cauldrons or ingredients.

Inside you’ll find a circular, low-ceilinged room. Unlike any other house the torches give off a green light. The room itself is a cold, damp, murky place just like the dungeons. Near the burning fire in this room, are green couches, and close to that there are tables for studying. On the walls there are scruffy looking portraits, some of which have secret hiding places behind them.

![[ ]](http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f346/OzoneRed/e00e5452.jpg) | Defence Against The Dark Arts One of the most intriguing subjects at Hogwarts is Defence against the Dark Arts. This class is to teach the students how to protect themselves from dark magic, or dark creatures they may run into after Hogwarts. The subject is taught on the first floor, in a huge rectangular room, which in the day is well lit due to the many windows that align against one of the walls. At night oil lamps light the room, giving it a dim lit glow. In the center of the room are rows of chairs, all of which point towards the professor's desk.

The well lit room, with easy access to Moaning Myrtle's abandoned bathroom, is identical to that of the History of Magic room. With three rows of desks facing the usually blank chalkboard, one would be surprised that the subject is far less dull than, far less dull than learning about the Goblin Rebellion. With wide windows and a magnificent view of the Hogwart's grounds, the method of fortune-telling based on names and numbers awaits you through the ever-open door.

She’s a wreck, you’d be crazy to venture into this bathroom.

![[ ]](http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f346/OzoneRed/e00e5452.jpg) | Empty Corridor The corridor located on the second floor is desolate. The only time it is packed full of students is when they need to get to their classes’. In the past there have been duels in the desolate corridor. That is why it is Mrs. Norris’ favorite place to venture at night. The hall has collected a few spider webs, around its portraits, and ghouls in its armor knights that line the halls. During the day the portraits are seen going in and out of their frame, but by night they’re back in their frame fast asleep.

In the winter one can come here for pepper up potion, to keep the colds away.

Despite the house's rundown appearance, Harry remarks on his first visit that it was the best house he had ever been in and it comes to be his second favourite place in the universe (after Hogwarts). The well-hidden orchard nearby doubles as a Quidditch pitch for the Weasley boys and (secretly) Ginny Weasley. Real Quidditch balls cannot be used in case they escape and fly over the Muggle village.
